低脂饮食和/或强度运动可抑制前列腺癌细胞增殖

【编者导读】众所周知,低脂素食和运动相结合是瘦身的不二选择。那么对于防治癌症来说,低脂素食和运动的作用如何呢?美国加州洛杉矶大学的研究者们提取了普通人、运动、和运动+素食三组受试者的血清,并测量它们对癌细胞的作用。结果发现,运动组血清可以明显增加癌细胞凋亡,而再加以素食,则癌细胞凋亡率翻倍。

背景

前列腺癌是美国男性最常见的实体瘤,但在亚洲男性中却较为罕见。但是,一旦亚洲男性选择了美国生活方式后,临床上竟然发现前列腺癌的发病率大幅度增加。美国流行病学调查数据显示:规律的活动可以降低前列腺癌的发病率。

研究方法

将相同年龄的男性分为三组:普通人对照组、(低脂饮食+运动)组、运动组,并从这三组中分别提取血清。利用各组血清刺激培养的前列腺癌细胞(LNCaP)细胞,然后分别检测各组肿瘤细胞的生长和凋亡情况(编者备注:凋亡是指细胞自发性衰老死亡。通过细胞凋亡,机体可以消除损伤、衰老与突变的细胞来维持自身的平衡和各个器官及系统的正常功能)。同时检测各组血清样本中的胰岛素(Insulin)、胰岛素样生长因子1(IGF-1)、胰岛素样生长因子结合蛋白1(IGFBP-1)(编者注:可以抑制胰岛素样生长因子的活性)。

研究结果

(低脂饮食+运动)组和运动组这两组血清中的胰岛素(Insulin)和胰岛素样生长因子1(IGF-1)均低于普通人对照组,而两组的胰岛素样生长因子结合蛋白1(IGFBP-1)却高于对照组。(低脂饮食+运动)组和运动组这两组中前列腺癌细胞(LNCaP)的生长亦慢于对照组,而肿瘤细胞的凋亡却明显增加。

研究结论

低脂饮食和/或强度运动将改变体内血清激素和生长因子的浓度,从而对抑制前列腺癌细胞(LNCaP)的增殖并促进其凋亡。

Abstract

BACKGROUND:

Prostate cancer is the most common solid-tumor cancer in US males but is rare in Asian males. When Asian men adopt the US lifestyle, clinical prostate cancer increases greatly. Epidemiological data from men in the US indicate that regular activity may reduce the risk for prostate cancer.

METHODS:

Serum was obtained from three groups of similar-aged men, Control, Diet and Exercise, and Exercise alone were used to stimulate LNCaP cells in culture. Growth and apoptosis of tumor cells were measured. Serum samples were also used to measure insulin, IGF-1, IGFBP-1.

RESULTS:

The Diet and Exercise and the Exercise alone groups had lower serum insulin and IGF-1 but higher IGFBP-1 compared to Controls. LNCaP cell growth was reduced in both groups compared to Control and there was a major increase in apoptosis of tumor cells.

CONCLUSIONS:

A low-fat diet and/or intensive exercise results in change in serum hormones and growth factors in vivo that can reduce growth and induce apoptosis of LNCaP prostate tumor cells in vitro.
